2012-05-11 Developer Meeting
Participants: Shuro, Dan, Saptarshi, John, Piyush, Karan, Vikas, Nathan
Topics:
- Last Week's Progress
- Most people are actively working on back-end (Saptarshi, John, Karan, Owen)
- Less people on front-end (Piyush, Nathan)Â
- Remaining Registration work: PatientImage back-end
- Next Week's work items
- Want to add Pharmacy and Lab into design scope of Saptarshi's REST/OpenMRS work
- Need to scope work for GSoC, RSoC interns. Want to get early interns ( <= Mar 21st) to join back-end quickly. Others may join back or front-end.
- For GSoC, interns should create a Wiki page to track their specific summer project -> Piyush Madan (Unlicensed), vikas singh (Unlicensed), Martin Losse (Unlicensed)
- Design discussions needed:
- Need discussion to coordinate lab and pharmacy plans, to make sure they align cleanly with other Raxa work (this applies to back-end and front-end work)
- Process Improvements
- Discussions
- Participate more in design discussions!
- Keep conversations in the open. Try to give frequent updates via GitHub and JIRA.Â
- Let people know that you're involved and watching ... When in doubt, add a comment or even simply "+1"!
- Conferencing
- Get a new freeConferencing service!! Lots of disconnects and hassle. Try Calliflower?
- Setup
- How can we improve "getting started" process for new contributors. It's difficult to set up our back-end... may take hours and lots of guidance. Quick setup?
- Discussions
- Lessons Learned
- Dev-environment setup is difficult. Email from Vijita and her husband regarding complex Eclipse setup. Saptarshi updated our "back-end getting started" guide to support NetBeans and a simpler setup.
- A few hours "in office" is vital to getting up to speed on back-end. Even dev-environ setup my take 2d.
