What we intend to do?

Understand how to design user-interfaces and information visualizations for low-literate patients. We planned to make webapps that work on most web browser (majorly mobile browsers). We will be following User centered design approach this summers :

  • Literature study/ Secondary research (to understand How Low literate adult process information?)
  • Prepare individual field guides for various protocols
  • Develop some sample app storyboards (using JSS EMR documentation and one day visit) before going to the field, and then iterating on them in the field.
  • Contextual interviews with stakeholders (if time allows)+ Feedbacks from the stakeholders for the designs (to validate our initial designs)
  • Carry out Wizards of user testing.

...

The goal of this phase is to build prototypes of increasing level of details through design iterations. Through repeated cycles of designs, prototyping and user testing, this phase aims to deliver a high fidelity prototype that will be the result of better usability.

  • Low/High-Fidelity Prototyping
  • Concept Validation
  • Think-aloud User testing
  • Design Iterations
  • Final Documentations
Tentative Schedule

Tentative Schedule:

Week 1 (June 4, 2012):

•Generate ideas for developing some sample apps.

•Storyboard user-interfaces for each of the tasks.

Week 2 (June 11, 2012):

•Refine storyboards based on feedback from JSS, prototype for storyboarded user-interfaces.

•Make another one-day visit to JSS to get stakeholder feedback on the storyboard and interfaces.

•Discuss and finalize schedule for contextual interviews.

Week 3 (June 18, 2012):

•Start Contextual interviews: majorly to get feedback on design

•Reiterate the initial ideas.

Week 4 (June 25, 2012): Wizard of Oz user studies
