PROCESS

Our project's timeline was broadly categorized into 3 phases: seek, educateresearch, explore and envisionsolution.

...

Seek

The educate seek phase was aimed to educate ourselves and understand out clientJSS's background and work processes. The initial research comprised of the background research on Emerson Process Management and their clients including training sessions conducted by our clients, competitive analysis on similar products and interviews such as directed storytelling with users.

Research

During the exploration research phase, we looked at the current product in greater details and picked out areas of opportunities to explore new and potential ideas. We achieved these objectives through implementing research methods such as directed storytelling and modeling, artifact walkthrough, information architecture analysis, and heuristic evaluation. After a round of data collection through the various research methods, we consolidated and analyzed the information to obtain a better understanding of the existing problems. From the consolidated data, a list of design implications was created and more questions were generated. This formed the cycle of understanding, as we were proceeding repeating this cycle to get a deeper understanding in the area of interest.

Solution

The last phase was the envision solution phase, where the goal of this phase was to build prototypes of increasing level of details through design iterations. Through repeated cycles of designs, prototyping and user testing, this phase aimed to deliver a high fidelity prototype that was the result of better usability.

Tentative Schedule

Week 1 (June 4, 2012):

•Generate ideas for developing some sample apps.

•Storyboard user-interfaces for each of the tasks.

Week 2 (June 11, 2012):

•Refine storyboards based on feedback from JSS, prototype for storyboarded user-interfaces.

...

•Discuss and finalize schedule for contextual interviews.

Week 3 (June 18, 2012):

•Start Contextual interviews: majorly to get feedback on design

•Reiterate the initial ideas.
